She made her debut in 2021 with the acclaimed novel Järnmärkt, followed by the standalone novel Jordoffer and then the Elin Roth series. Long

Helén Wigh was born in 1984 and grew up in Persberg in the municipality of Filipstad. She lives in Karlstad and worked as a teacher from 2007 to 2024. Her dream of writing took shape in adulthood, and in 2013 she took her first writing course – which is where the manuscript for Järnmärkt was born.

Her debut Järnmärkt (2021) is set in the mining community of Högbergsfältet in the 19th century and was followed the same year by Jordoffer. Next came the Elin Roth series – Tukta, Söndra, Rista and Dyrka – set in 1950s Värmland. Wigh has been praised for her evocative language and atmospheric depictions of nature.

She has received Filipstad’s cultural scholarship, the Ferlin Scholarship (2023), was named Cultural Profile of the Year (2023), served as Filipstad Ambassador in 2024 and became Honorary Ambassador of Filipstad in 2025. In late autumn 2027 she launches a new contemporary thriller series with “Ingen får veta” (No One Can Know), published by Bokförlaget Forum.

Helén Wigh is represented by Grand Agency.
